Burglaries in Seaford and Peacehaven
Following a number of recent burglaries in areas of Seaford and into Peacehaven, officers have been out and about visiting victims, offering support, delivering crime‑prevention leaflets and increasing patrols in the affected as part of their investigations to identify suspects and help prevent deter further offending.
We would like to take the opportunity to remind residents to take a moment to review their home security and check that all entry points to their homes are secure.
This includes side gates, rear doors and windows, where offenders often look for quick and easy access, so making sure these areas are locked and well‑secured can make a real difference.
Avoid leaving valuable or personal items on show from the street, as this can unintentionally draw attention; for jewellery and other important belongings, consider using a secure home safe for added protection.
If you spot anything suspicious, please report it at the time.
101/online for all non-emergencies.

Patrols across Newhaven help to tackle ASB and business crime
As part of our regular patrols across the district, officers have been conducting additional patrols in Newhaven (last weekend into this week) as well as carrying out proactive activities to tackle anti social behaviour (ASB) in the area.
This included visiting local stores and late night venues, as well as conducting high visibility patrols throughout the town centre; to act as not only a deterrent to those conducting ASB, but to identify individuals involved, and offer both residents and businesses in the area support and reassurance.
During these patrols, officers spoke with a number of residents and engaged with several local businesses regarding ongoing concerns. Officers also followed up on previously reported incidents during the course of their patrols.
We hope these ongoing patrols provide reassurances to the community that reports of ASB will be taken seriously - we continue to encourage both businesses and residents to report any further incidents to police at the time.
101/online for all non-emergencies.

Operation Downsway day of action in Peacehaven
As a Force, Sussex Police is continuing its work to reduce serious collisions by targeting the Fatal Five driving offences, these are: drink and/or drug‑driving, speeding, failing to wear a seatbelt, distracted driving, and careless driving.
These behaviours remain the leading 5 causes of fatal and serious injury crashes on Sussex roads, prompting the launch of a dedicated Fatal Five Unit to provide intelligence‑led enforcement and improve road safety across the county.
Last week, officers carried out a Fatal Five Day of Action in Peacehaven, responding to ongoing community concerns about dangerous and anti-social driving along the coast, with the operation involving focused patrols and resulting in a number of tickets being issued for various road‑safety offences, including speeding and mobile phone use.
These checks form part of our continued efforts to make local roads safer through visible enforcement and targeted intervention.
Find out more about the day of action online here.
